Dessert Pizza

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Here is a quick, easy and healthy dessert for all your holiday festivities. This recipe is very versatile and can be made in many ways. This is one of my favorites:

Whole wheat pizza crust

Fat-Free Vanilla Greek Yogurt

4 large local Gala apples

2 tbs orange juice

1-2 cups Original Trio Granola

Roll out the whole wheat pizza dough (I get mine in the refrigerated section at my local food store, you can use any type of pizza dough. Any local pizza shop sells dough for less than $2 a ball). Bake the dough at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Let the crust cool to room temperature.

Cut the apples into thinly sliced wedges and saute them over medium-high heat in a large skillet until soft, about 10 minutes. Just before you turn off the heat at the orange juice and let it boil for a minute or two. Allow the apples to cool. You can use a canned pie filling instead of fresh fruit if you are in a time crunch.

Spread the prepared crust with the yogurt. Arrange the apple slices neatly over the yogurt. Sprinkle the granola over the apples. Slice and enjoy!

One 16″ pizza can serve up to 20 people.

Total prep time: 10 minutes

Total bake time: 15 minutes

Halloween at the Market

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Yesterday, the Central Market of York held a Fall Festival full of family fun activities including face painting, trick-or-treating, and a pie eating contest. It was a HUGE success! The organizers of the event did a fantastic job pulling together all of the details and advertising to the public. It has been a while since I have seen THAT many people in the market. Kudos to them for all of their hard work and thank you to all who came out to support the market and enjoy a fun day of activities.
