2013 in Review

As 2013 comes to an end it is time to sit back and reflect on what was a very eventful year. Here are a few highlights:

The Wedding: Sarah and Evan got hitched!

Martha Stewart: Even though the product never hit store shelves, it was an honor to work with and make the Martha Pantry Granola.

 

Whole Foods Market: We finally got into Whole Foods Markets! Our goal for next year is to get into more of them. Stay tuned for store updates.

 

 

Forager Line Launch: We launched our newest line of products and are really excited to see its distribution grow in 2014.

 

Better Homes and Gardens: One of the highlights of the year for sure! We are so honored to be featured in their December issue.

New kitchen: Our new kitchen is schedule to be open in mid-January and will enable us to do some pretty awesome things in 2014.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake Mix Cookies

With all of the cookie talk this month, I often find myself wishing I was born a baker.  Unfortunately, I was no way gifted with the ability to scientifically craft tasty treats, therefore, I usually try and enlist the baking skills of a friend to feed me all sorts of Christmas cookies this time of year. 

It wasn't until recently that I discovered my inability to bake could be somewhat salvaged with the help of a few shortcuts and hidden ingredients. All it takes is a very basic cookie recipe and one with minimal ingredients.  The secret...cake mix!  Seriously, it works! 

Next, the way to really impress yourself with a homemade dessert is to add in something unusually delicious.  In my case, granola was the answer! 

These were some of the best cookies I've ever made and all it took was a little creativity.  If you are baking-inclined as I am, this recipe is for you!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake Mix Cookies 

Makes 2 dozen 

Ingredients: 

1 box organic yellow cake mix 

1/2 cup butter, softened 

2 eggs

1/2 cup Lover's Combo Granola

additional chocolate chips if desired 

Directions: 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs and softened butter.  Fold in granola and chocolate chips.  Drop by the spoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.  Allow the cookies to cool completely.
