Featured Flavor of the Month: Clare

How does one twenty-something girl balance a full time job, an active lifestyle, and a booming social life?  Clare manages to fit-it-all-in and shares her tips of healthy eating, workouts and even her daily styles on her blog Fitting It All In.

Once an avid runner, Clare now finds herself spending more time with her CrossFit family focusing on power lifting and muscle building.  While eating a mainly clean diet, she still opens up on her occasional indulgence of her favorite treat, M&M's.

We are so happy to have Clare feature our favorite fall flavor, Johnny Apple Seed in this month's blogger spotlight.

 

How often do you eat granola?

I eat granola occasionally as a snack or treat. It's too good for me to eat every day – I have no self control around the stuff and I'd go through bags like crazy!

In your own words, describe your featured flavor granola-

 

This granola tastes like fall! I LIVE for huge honey crisp apples come September, so this Apple Cinnamon Granola is just what I'm craving. The little bit of nuts and cranberries put it over the top – imagine this made into an apple crisp topping!
 

In your opinion, what is the best way to enjoy granola?

Well I have to admit that the most common way is just hand to mouth. But if I'm being polite, I'd say on some greek yogurt or with fresh berries in almond milk. My favorite way to eat the NAG Mexican Hot Chocolate was on banana frozen yogurt so that the cool sweetness of the "fro-yo" could balance the spiciness of the granola.

Featured Flavor of the Month: Kristin

Eat Well. Run Often. Travel Far.  These three things are what keeps Kristin full of uplifting inspiration as she shares her passion for delicious healthy cooking and traveling the world on her blog, Iowa Girl Eats.  This small town girl dreams big and has the pictures to prove it.  Aside from her tantalizing daily recipe posts from everything detox salads to buffalo chicken quinoa mac and cheese, she often shares her love of travel as she visits some of the world's most sought out places.  Italy, Vegas, and Napa Valley are just a few of the places Kristin has been and shares every aspect of these trips with her readers.

How often do you eat granola?

I like to have a small dessert every night after dinner, and a handful of NAG Lover’s Combo granola is the perfect way to end a meal. It’s sweet, but not too sweet, and I’m always satisfied after one(ish) handful!

In your own words, describe your featured flavor granola-

Chocolate and peanut butter are the main flavors in the Lover’s Combo NAG granola, which is one of my favorite combos of all time. The sweet & salty flavors complement each other beautifully. I was surprised to taste a hint of cinnamon in this granola blend, too! It’s something I never would have thought to add, but totally worked.

In your opinion, what is the best way to enjoy granola?

I love eating the Lover’s Combo straight out of the bag, but if I’m feeling like an extra decadent dessert, I like to make a mini, faux banana split with the granola. Simply slice half a banana in half lengthwise, place a scoop of strawberry ice cream in the center, then sprinkle the chocolate & peanut butter laced Lover’s Combo granola on top. HEAVEN!

July Featured Flavor of the Month: Courtney

 

Living in Upstate New York with her husband Jay and their crazy cat Cody, Courtney sheds a simple and realistic approach towards living a healthy and happy life while still enjoying the little indulgences.  Sweet Tooth Sweet Life chronicles her every day diary of all things food, fitness and fashion.  Courtney recently began pursuing her passion as a Personal Trainer and became NASM certified.  She now works with clients to help them achieve their fitness goals and continues to inspire others through her healthy recipes and wellness tips.   

This month, Courtney takes a bite of summer featuring the light, refreshing and slightly indulgentOrange Creamsicle, a blend of low fat orange infused granola with hints of creamy white chocolate.

How often do you eat granola? - Daily. Even if it's just to quickly grab a little handful. I honestly can't even remember the last time I didn't have granola. It's just SO good.

In your own words, describe your featured flavor granola - When I first read the bag and saw that it was Orange Creamsicle flavor, I thought it sounded interesting but didn't really expect too much…boy was I wrong! The granola seriously has such a distinct orange flavor (which I immediately fell in love with) and the added white chocolate chips were the perfect way to get the "creamsicle" taste. It's just awesome.

In your opinion, what is the best way to eat granola? - Tough question! I love it by the handful, on top of oatmeal, on top of smoothies, in blondies, and in cookies. But I think, for this particular granola, my favorite way would have to be in the frozen orange creamsicle snacks I made. They were yummy!

June Featured Flavor of the Month: Anne

A runner, a world traveler, an “occasional” yogi, and a lover of food, specifically healthy food, Anne is anything less than well rounded.  This striving young woman has proved that working hard to achieve your career dreams is entirely possible with passion and hard work.  She has spent the past 2 years studying Public Health in Nutrition and recently received her Masters from UNC-Chapel Hill.  Anne now lives in Washington D.C. with her fiancé and is completing her dietetic internship to become a Registered Dietitian.

How often do you eat granola?
I eat granola a couple times a week! I love trying new flavors and was especially excited to try one called "Muddy Waffles." :)

 
In your own words, describe your featured flavor granola-
Muddy Waffles was delicious – it tastes like an oatmeal cookie in granola form. I brought it with me on a hike this morning with friends and we all loved snacking on it. Everyone gave it two thumbs up!

 
In your opinion, what is the best way to enjoy granola?
My favorite way to enjoy granola is straight out of the bag, or on top of plain Greek yogurt with fresh berries. Perfection!
